Meet
the Musher
My name is Perry Solmonson....growing up in Fairbanks,
Alaska - my family took home movies of all of us kids taking dog
sled rides and having big smiles on our faces. Now in my mid 40's,
my dream of running the idiatrod is coming true.
"In every child, there is "Alaska
Dreamin' of driving a team of sled dogs". Outdoor pursuits
have been the focus of my life since I climbed my first mountain,
the Middle Sister in Oregon's Cascades, at age 11. As a teenager,
I completed a three and a half-day ascent of the Noth West face
of Half Dome in Yosemite Valley. In the 80's, I paddled the first
modern day inside circumnavigation of Prince William Sound in
an ocean kayak.
